#11 HOW ENVIRONMENT AFFECT OUR STUDY ?

When we talk about study, having a great place to spill out our ideas is the most important. The environment surrounds you will be the big factor for you to be able to retain information in order to apply it in our assessment or job. Here, there are several ways of environment that will give a great impact especially for us, students while study.

Firstly, the environment that surrounds with a soft music and refreshing breezy air would be the best place for students. As for example, songs from Yiruma, river flows in you and kiss the rain and from Bond, innocent should be used while we are studying as it can sooth and keep our mind calm. It will be easier for us to stay focus.

Plus, the lighting aspect should be considered too. It will be impossible for us to stay focus on our study and give our eyes a burdensome to read in a dim lighting. Adequate and appropriate lighting is a must for successful in studying. The lighting source should be even and consistent, no shadows and no glare. By using the fluorescent lights should be fine as from the past research it can help us to be calmer, steady and less distracted.

Moreover, be aware with your feelings. If you feel a little sleepy, don’t hesitate any time and quickly avoid the place which can make you more sleepy such as overstuffed arm chair and bed! Find another spot that comfortable but not too comfortable for you to resume back your study.

Furthermore, the clock will be the main problem and the worst enemy ever especially students. You will keep glancing and wondering “I have been study for 10 minutes only?’ or some children will think “oh my god, my favorites cartoon will start in a bit”. Every problem has its solutions. Use the clock wisely.  Before start doing your assessment, set the clock what time you plan to finish. With setting the clock, it will give us a little pressure to finish up our assessment or tasks.

To make it more fun, interesting and not dull, ask some acquaintances to join you during study. It will be super duper helpful as we can exchange our brilliant ideas with other friends and add up with new one. You must avoid wasting time with chit chat or without a clear direction for your study group. Paying a full commitment and concentration during discussion can drive us to achieve a flying color results with Allah’s wills.

In a nutshell, a great environment is important in order to embellish the effectiveness of our study skills.

#10 STEPS TO IMPROVE OUR PRESENTATION SKILLS

 

Everyone in the world have their own way when talking whether it is fluent or stutter. Some people can control their nervousness when they have to talk in front of many people but majority of them out there fail to do it. They will simply sweating and shivering before they even begin to talk. The worst thing is   some of them will act like a crybaby.There are a few ways to bring our presentation skills to a higher stage. Here are some steps to improve our presentation skills.

First and foremost, you have to take a deep breath and keep calm. Have faith and high confidence level on how you want to deliver your presentation. It takes time and patience to enhance your skills as long as you try your hardest. Miracle is the other name of hard work.

Second, we should have a good body language with the audience so that we can attract them to watch our presentation. Make an eye contact with audience and put a big smile on your face to show them that you are not afraid. Even it is such a small thing, this way will help you to boost your confidence level up even though you are not that confident. It will simply ease your mind and calm your heart and make people to pay their attention to what you are presenting. If these still make you nervous, make an eye contact with just one person at a time. You also must keep your head up and your shoulder straight. Don't play with your hands or else you will look even more nervous. Use your hands gesture to express your point .

Beside of that, you must be able to laugh at yourself. If you made a little mistake, burst the laugh off and the crowd will laugh along with you. Do a multiple practice. This can help you to speak fluently but don't memorize it. Just pick up an important point to be delivered during your presentation. Memorizing word by word is obviously hard because if there is any interruption such as sudden question, we can simply lose our next word. This will make us more nervous or in the other word  is " our mind is blank".Make a cue card for you to hold when presenting your speech.It will help you to utter the word  smoothly and conviniently. Always practice in front of the mirror, even in the shower while you taking a bath and in front of your friends or your family members. 

Last but not least, you must sleep early at night before the presentation, so that  it will be easier for you to prepare yourself on the next  morning. Drink a lot of plain water a week before your presentation so that your voice projection will be great during the presentation. Arrive at the presentation hall early so that you can walk around the stage and make yourself comfortable with it. Try to do a little bit practice on the stage even though there is no audience yet .It is one of  the way for you to warm up your vocal chord before the real presentation start.

In conclusion, in order to develop our presentation skills, we must work harder and just have faith to  Him. As a Muslim, we should gather our hand and pray till the last and don’t forget to say Bismillah before we start our work to get His blessing. 

#9 HOW ENGLISH CAN BE APPLIED IN OUR DAILY LIFE ?

 Malaysians always think that English can’t be applied in our daily life, it is totally wrong because there’s so much way I applying it, not to mention in our daily life.

As for Malaysians, there are thousands way to apply the things that the teacher have thought you in class right? It should not be wasted. Firstly, you can try to speak in English with your parents and family members. Speak with confident even though you do not use formal or broken English and make sure that you speak with correct grammar. It does’t  a big matter or a big deal if the people around you will be laugh for your pronounciation as people nowadays actually envy or the other word to say is jealous for those people who try to speak in English . I don’t know why. We can also learn from  our mistakes that we did as a saying by Billie Joe Armstrong “making mistakes is a lot better that not doing anything”.

Secondly, you can also apply English when you went to grocery shop or the supermarket. You can make short conversation with the seller in English, don’t you? As you keep trying, you will be used to it as the time goes on and it will not be awkward to apply English with other people around you. Don’t be ashamed to use it is the key word to success.

Who said English is hard to be applied? As for students, you can also apply English with your teacher when asking them about question you didn’t understand. You also can have interaction with your classmates and friends in English.

Speaking and listening to English everyday will improve your skills in many aspects. You can also apply English when you’re listening songs. Listening to English songs while study under a shady tree gonna be interesting right. We can enhance our vocabulary and listen to the correct pronounciation  while listening to the singer’s accent.  Nowadays, there are a lot of English songs that you can listen to when you have a leisure time.

From our point of view, English also can be applied when you are watching televisions. You can watch movies, cartoons and show in English. That is how you applied English in a way that you didn’t even realize it.

Interesting facts, right?

In other opinion, you can also make friends using English. In this millennium, Social media use English as the method and is known as a language that connect people around the world.

As the technologies grows around, the gadget become more advance and social media become more important. As the result, more people will apply English in their daily life.

#8 - SUMMARY OF CATCH US IF YOU CAN BY CATHERINE MACPHAIL

Rory is a young and strong lad who lived with his grandfather whom he called Granda. He lived with his Granda since his mother died due to heart broken after being left by Rory's father, Jeff McIntosh. Rory who was supposed to enjoy his childhood moment with his beloved friends willing to take a big and heavy responsibility to take care of his Granda. Rory accepts that responsibility with a great of gratitude and do not hesitate his duty towards Granda. His Granda who is senile and incapable in doing nothing always makes Rory to get into hot water. Even though  Granda always abandoned Rory with his carelessness , but still Rory love him so much .

Everyday, Rory will ensure that his Granda will take his medication according to Dr Nicol advices. Rory also will buy two hot pies at the nearby bakery for his Granda lunch. He also will make sure that Granda will attend all the hospital appointments arranged by Dr Nicol. Since Rory is too busy somehow to take a good care of his weak Granda, he could not manage to turn up during the football practice every evening as Granda could not be left for a long time or else something bad will be happen due to his forgetfulness.

Some of the incidents of Granda's forgetfulness are, every night, Rory will hide Granda's pipe as he always left it smoulder, putting his shoes in the fridge and the milk in the wardrobe and throw away Rory's homework in the rubbish chute.

Granda was admitted at the hospital due to excessive smoke inhalation. Granda had left the chip pan on and cause fire . Rory was very sad and sits behind his Granda hoping that his Granda will wake up . The authorities seems not sure the capability of Rory in taking care of his ailing ageing grandfather . They were separate without their willingness which lead Rory to plan a Great Escape. Rory was sent to the Castle Street, an orphanage and Granda was sent to Rachnadar, an old folks home.

Rory feel insecure in the Castle Street as he always have a great fight with a girl named Tess. Tess always makes Rory's day miserable. Plus, he really miss his Granda so much and lead him to escape from the Castle Street and went to Rachnadar. Rory know that his Granda was unhappy and dying there at the Rachnadar . There family bond are to tight and not easily unravel.

Almost 3 days Rory plan the Great Escape. He managed to run away with his Granda together. They felt so free. Rory does not anymore having a fight with Tess and Granda can spend his time with his beloved grandson.Luckily, his friend , Darren give Rory the spare key of his mother's caravan for them to take a nap.They had spend a happy moments together by doing some activities such as fishing and enjoying the nature that was the gift from God. They were laughing and chuckled as there was no one who unaware about them. Like heaven !

Rory receive a text message from Darren telling him that the authorities knew about their whereabouts. They began to resume the journey travelling here and there until Rory discovered themselves on TV, that he still he had a father ! Jeff McIntosh . These kind of news made up his mind to go to Liverpool to meet his biological father. Even though Granda still mad with his son action by leaving Rory's mother , but still he loves his son so much.

Travelling so far make Granda feel so weak and harden him to breathe . Rory put aside his plan to meet his Granda. Granda lost his conciousness during at the bus stop. Rory felt so shock when he touches his Granda's heart , there is no heartbeats ! Rory run and yelling for help . He was too scared to lost his Granda again . Granda was sent and admitted to the hospital again . The fate were arranged from God . He managed to meet a man, who was known as Jeff McIntosh which was his father !

Every cloud has a silver lining . After Granda had discharge from the hospital , Jeff McIntosh invite them to have a lunch with his new family. Now, Rory does not suffer any hardships anymore . Rory and Granda had make up their mind to move to Liverpool to stay closer to his father. Jeff McIntosh also will take all the responsibility that all this while abandon to his son, Rory.

#7 SEX EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

Sex education in public schools is, first and foremost education and is therefore an obligation of the American school system. Sex education in public schools is a reoccurring topic in the academic literature. More recently, it has also caught the attention of the public again due to rising unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease among youngsters nowadays. They say that sex education only destroys the morality of people because they think that sex education teaches students about how sexual intercourse is done. Although sex education lowers the morality of people by teaching students how to use condoms and contraceptives, it should be taught in primary school and secondary school because it gives children the idea of what is right and what is wrong. 

Others say that having sex education only encourages the students to engage in sexual intercourse and that it leads to sexual diseases and teenage pregnancy. The truth is that sex education does not encourage students to do it. According to Bleakley(2006), in a survey conducted, only about seventeen percent of the respondents answered that sex education does encourage them to do “it” and that the remaining eighty three percent strongly disagreed. Sex education prevents sexual diseases and teenage pregnancy. But how? Students are taught how to use condoms.
                                    

According to Masland(n.d.), kids are becoming more sexually active at an earlier age. Sixty-six percent of high school students in America have done it by their senior year. These kids are in danger of sexually transmitted diseases. There is also a big possibility for them to become pregnant and that is why sex education should be taught to avoid these things from happening. In sex education, students are also taught of abstinence. They are taught that they should only have sexual intercourse after they get married.

In case the parents are always away from their children, sex education should be taught to them so that they would learn it from an educated and responsible adult. There will always be peers who would badly influence others. For examples, there are ages eight to ten but the words that come out of their mouths are foul sex languages. The media and technology played a big role on this. Students can now access any site on the internet that contains adult content or pornographic materials. That is why sex education should be implemented in schools. It is better    for children to be informed earlier because they will still know about it when they grow up as they will be more exposed to it through their peers and the media.

People say that sex education teaches the students about how sexual intercourse is done but the truth is sex education lets the students know about the consequences and the truth about sex. Students are also informed that it is only for unity and procreation of married couples who are committed to each other. They are also informed that they will know the true purpose of sex when they grow up as adults.

In conclusion, sex education should be taught in schools because it is better to consider health than beliefs and we should consider reality. Since immorality cannot be eliminated and teenagers cannot be stopped from becoming sexually active, we should implement sex education in schools, as early as primary school. It also the only savior for children whose parents are always away from them and that is why sex education is needed so that they will not lose track of the right path. Through sex education, students will be able to learn the truth about sex and they will be able to refrain and control themselves. 

#6 WHY ENGLISH IS SO DIFFICULT TO LEARN?

A very cliché question that always  being ask by those Malaysians that doesn’t think of English as the most frequent language used around the world nowadays. Among all sort of important things in human life, knowing more than one language especially English is a must.


Our life depends on how we connect with each other. Thus, if we didn’t know how to speak in English, we really can’t survive well in this modern era.It’s really hard to learn English? Not  at all. From our point of view, English is a language that full of bombastic words for you to describe your true feelings. It’s really easy to learn if you are determined to learn it.

It’s difficult to learn English for those who think English is hard. When you think of something hard, you can’t really do it. So, just relax and learn English with passion. Maybe because of majority of Malaysians used to speak Malay in their daily life, English being so difficult for them to learn and being practice in their conversation. Also, some people feel awkward to use English among citizens who practice Malay in their routine. This is the first factor why English is so difficult to learn, environment!

Let’s explore more about the difficulties of learning English. The second factor that we thought of is the lack of facilities in the rural area such as places far from the city like villages at the mountain etc. there’s lack of vocabulary because there’s lack of dictionary. Also to include with, places like this has no coverage of internet at all.

The most famous factor to be discuss is the factor of the person itself. It’s called laziness. This factor can’t be help by other people but the person her/himself. They should be determine if they want to be good in English as for people nowadays it’s very important for us.

It’s not anyone faults if we want to use our National language but we can add up our potential by learning English, right? Instead of only one language, we can actually add English [for sure..], Spanish, French and others.

What is education ? Why we need education in our lives ? Like Malcolm S.Forbes as said "Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one". Education in a person's life starts at birth. It is often said that a person is born with clean slate. As he or she begins to learn various things , this slate becomes colored. So, the education is most important to the poor. There are many reasons why education is important to the poor.

Firstly, poor people can get job with education  and earn money for more comfortable life. Without education, it is very difficult to get a job these days. An educated person has different choices concerning jobs. For examples he or she can make personal projects and invest his or her money. That is to say, he or she will employ other people with him or her. So, if they want a good career they need a good education. 

Furthermore, the importance of education to the poor is education can bring they to the top of the world and will help they reach their dreams and it will end up coming true. A gift of knowledge that cannot be stolen and bring they to achieve their dreams. Since in childhood everybody in this world dreams of having a good career when they grow up. Education help they to develop their values and it will help they to become a mature adult who plan for their future.

In addition, education can changed their lifestyle. It can changed their life to be more better from bad to good condition. They maybe do not have car, beautiful house and enough requirement. So they can improve their life with gain knowledge and eventually they will get a job. They will have a stable income to support their family.

Lastly, education can decrease the statistic of poor in the country. It can help one's country to further to the future. Education will build a character of a person. The country will be more advance and well known because most of the people is educated and can create more technology. The poor also will not be discriminated by the upper class. 

The conclusion is education is very important for all people in this world so that it will convinient our daily routine. It does't mean we are come from a rich family , we can neglect the education as a saying goes seek the education from the cradle to the grave.

#4 HOW TECHNOLOGY RUINS COMMUNICATION?

Nowadays, technology are very useful and important for people in order to connect each other even though they are miles apart. People all over the world are exposed to the uses of technology. Technology is one of the medium for us to do our works, assignments, to get information and socialites. How can we get those technology from? Of course from the Internet and other medias. The Internet also made us smarter but they also made us lazy.

The technology is very related to the communication that we used in our daily life. As the society, we used to interact each other using media social, mobile phones and tablets. People don’t actually speak to each other anymore, they simply type to each other in broken texts. We have evolved past actually communicating face to face. Instead of actually picking up the phone and calling each other back.

One of our members had met some couples and some families were sitting together in a restaurant. Most of them are not focusing on each other but they hold their phones, browsing the Internet, twittering and others. They were not taking part seriously in their families’ conversation as those gadgets were replace it. They did so distracted by the cell phones that we can’t even focus for a need of time for someone that we love?

So, what has the technology done for our communication? Nothing good. We have no idea how to communicate our emotions and feelings because from the lazy and the broken texts, it has removed the humanness from our lives. All of these gadgets are the great shortcuts and are great in avoiding what we really need.

We think by using this technology, we can connect to more people faster and better but not instead. So today we encourage everyone to go out, sans mobile devices, and reconnect with those in your life that need you without all the distraction.

Just real human interactions to re-establish our ability to do what human do best. Feel.

Most important things in life.

Predict what?

Food and drinks? Yes. That is absolutely a correct answer!

As a human being, we admit that food and drinks are very necessary to continue our daily lives. Without foods and drinks, we cannot survive well and live for a long period of time. As we all know, in our beloved country Malaysia, there are various types of foods and drinks which became favorite among the citizens.

Worldwide have already knows that Malaysia are rich with variety of cultures, races and religion. Although, we didn’t care about skin colour nor the language we speaks every day. All Malaysians are very understanding and tolerate.

That makes Malaysia unique and wonderful.

Here we present you the most popular things to be asked when outsiders meet our Malaysians. For sure, its food and drinks!

As for Malay, we’d love to have Lemang, Rendang Tok, Lontong(oh, how delicious it is!) for our Eid. Also ketupat and lots of kuih raya such as bahulu, dahlia and semperit. There’s many types of laksa too. Laksa Penang, Laksa Johor and Laksa Sarawak. So yummy and it makes our stomach sound even when we just think of it. Ah, Katira( the green drink).

 

For Chinese, they like to eat Moon Cake as the cake was so delicious.(For us, everything is fabulous when it is related to food). Nasi Ayam also famous among the citizens of Malaysians because of it taste and price that can be afford. The taste of Char Kuey Teow? Superb!

Capati, Thosai, Roti Canai, Nasi Beriyani, Putu Mayam and Tandoori Chicken are the example of Indian food that we share among Malaysians. Almost everything that Indian people eat, Malay and Chinese will also eat. That are our country’s most unique fact tourists need to know before coming here.

Variety food in Malaysia have change world’s perspective about food. Malaysia also have traditional food from every state such as Budu, Keropok lekor, Nasi Kerabu and Laksam that are rarely found in other country. We think no other country have this kind of food. Only one in the Earth! How special we’re.

To end this entry, even though there are so many food and drinks around the world, we wish that Malaysian food will become more famous because it really deserve the appreciation.

Other than that, as a good parent, you should find the right school. It is one of important issue that you need to know. The school should obey these characteristics. First, the school should be in your area or at least the place that you already familiar with it. It should be easy if you have prepared well before the session start.

Another important tip is parents also have to spend time together to show good manners to their child because it is the appearance that will make people around feel comfortable. Teach them to share, take turns, be kind and polite and to clean up after themselves. It is a great deal to learn through about social interactions.

Last but not least, parents should do this thing first before the kids. Parents have to stay cool.  Children know better that separation is hard because they are with family

 24-7. They will be sad and cry all day long. So, give your child something special and precious to take to school with them, something that they can keep in the pockets of their school uniform that reminds them of you.

United Kingdom is one of the gift from God for its beauty. United Kingdom become one of our inspiration to further our studies at higher education level. Cambridge University, Harvard University, and Edinburgh University are the universities that we have been dreaming of. It's interesting to gain new experiences and valuable knowledge about other countries culture and society.

As students of University College Poly-Tech MARA, Kuala Lumpur (UKPTMKL) who are taking Diploma in Accounting and Finance, we will be studying here for three years. In other words, we will live on the same daily routine along this three years. As three years from now, we will make sure ourselves to struggle and strive harder to grab this golden opportunity to further our studies in UK. Specifically in Dublin Business School, Ireland. 

Even though we will be far away from our family, fellow friends and beloved country Malaysia, we should pull ourselves together and try our hardest to adapt in new environment.  We also should prepare ourselves in aspect of physical and mental from now on. This is important for us in order to accomplish our mission to be a successful chartered accountant and dedicate ourselves to our country, religion and family. As a saying goes, "The longest and toughest journey are normally the most rewarding."
