Everyday, Rory will ensure that his Granda will take his medication according to Dr Nicol advices. Rory also will buy two hot pies at the nearby bakery for his Granda lunch. He also will make sure that Granda will attend all the hospital appointments arranged by Dr Nicol. Since Rory is too busy somehow to take a good care of his weak Granda, he could not manage to turn up during the football practice every evening as Granda could not be left for a long time or else something bad will be happen due to his forgetfulness.
Some of the incidents of Granda's forgetfulness are, every night, Rory will hide Granda's pipe as he always left it smoulder, putting his shoes in the fridge and the milk in the wardrobe and throw away Rory's homework in the rubbish chute.
Granda was admitted at the hospital due to excessive smoke inhalation. Granda had left the chip pan on and cause fire . Rory was very sad and sits behind his Granda hoping that his Granda will wake up . The authorities seems not sure the capability of Rory in taking care of his ailing ageing grandfather . They were separate without their willingness which lead Rory to plan a Great Escape. Rory was sent to the Castle Street, an orphanage and Granda was sent to Rachnadar, an old folks home.
Rory feel insecure in the Castle Street as he always have a great fight with a girl named Tess. Tess always makes Rory's day miserable. Plus, he really miss his Granda so much and lead him to escape from the Castle Street and went to Rachnadar. Rory know that his Granda was unhappy and dying there at the Rachnadar . There family bond are to tight and not easily unravel.
Almost 3 days Rory plan the Great Escape. He managed to run away with his Granda together. They felt so free. Rory does not anymore having a fight with Tess and Granda can spend his time with his beloved grandson.Luckily, his friend , Darren give Rory the spare key of his mother's caravan for them to take a nap.They had spend a happy moments together by doing some activities such as fishing and enjoying the nature that was the gift from God. They were laughing and chuckled as there was no one who unaware about them. Like heaven !
Rory receive a text message from Darren telling him that the authorities knew about their whereabouts. They began to resume the journey travelling here and there until Rory discovered themselves on TV, that he still he had a father ! Jeff McIntosh . These kind of news made up his mind to go to Liverpool to meet his biological father. Even though Granda still mad with his son action by leaving Rory's mother , but still he loves his son so much.
Travelling so far make Granda feel so weak and harden him to breathe . Rory put aside his plan to meet his Granda. Granda lost his conciousness during at the bus stop. Rory felt so shock when he touches his Granda's heart , there is no heartbeats ! Rory run and yelling for help . He was too scared to lost his Granda again . Granda was sent and admitted to the hospital again . The fate were arranged from God . He managed to meet a man, who was known as Jeff McIntosh which was his father !
Every cloud has a silver lining . After Granda had discharge from the hospital , Jeff McIntosh invite them to have a lunch with his new family. Now, Rory does not suffer any hardships anymore . Rory and Granda had make up their mind to move to Liverpool to stay closer to his father. Jeff McIntosh also will take all the responsibility that all this while abandon to his son, Rory.
